Nose of smoked barley, kippers with salted butter, peppered bite; palate is youthful, then suddenly intensely malty followed by a healthy dose of drier oaks; sublime finish for its sheer delicacy and elegance; the peat no more than oozes, there are cups galore of sugarless medium roast, and finally, as a bourbony trail appears, soft licorice and molasses - easily the highlight of the experience: one of the best finishes of the year.
